ADULT EDUCATION
This group initiates, plans, and supervises Christian education in the
Parish at all levels. It employs a variety of methods such as study books,
visiting speakers, and videos. Various courses are arranged from time to
time. These are well advertised

BAPTISM PREPARATION
This group prepares parents or guardians for the baptism of their children.
Courses are conducted at set times of the year, as are the baptisms.
The sacrament is normally administered in a parish setting after a Sunday

BECOMING CATHOLIC –
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA)
This group supports people from other denominations (and those of
none) who are interested to explore the possibility of becoming

BULLETIN
This is the principal organ of communication throughout the Parish. Notices
to be included in a Sunday bulletin must be in the Parish Office not
later than the previous Thursday morning. Forms for this purpose are
found on the table near the main door of the church

CATHOLICS RETURNING HOME
Many Catholics have not participated in the life and sacraments of the
Church for many years. This programme is to invite and help them to
return. We miss them. Please ring office 439 8435
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE
This organisation, part of a national network, promotes Catholic
family life and fosters friendship, faith and service within the Catholic
community. It promotes, and helps finance missionary work in New
Zealand and beyond. New Members are welcome. Members meet

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Children of the Parish often have their own liturgy of the Word during
Sunday Mass. It provides an experience of that part of the Mass at a
level they are more able to understand. It is led by authorised adult
members of the Sunday Assembly

CLEANING OF THE CHURCH
We need to keep the church building worthy of the Lord’s sacramental
presence among us. It is a privilege to help do so but it needs the
participation of all in ways great and small to keep a high standard of
cleanliness and tidiness.

CLEANING OF THE MARY MACKILLOP PARISH CENTRE
This is done by Janene Emirali
COUNTING AND BANKING COLLECTIONS
Sunday and other collections are counted and recorded by rostered
parishioners. The total amount is then banked.

PRESENTATION OF GIFTS AT MASS
This group co-ordinates groups of parishioners who bring forward

This outreach group organizes social activities for local senior citizens

The ministry of servers is to represent the people at the altar and to
serve the priest.

NURTURING NETWORK
This group supplies baby clothing to needy families

PARENTS AND THE SACRAMENTS
The church regards parents or their guardians as the first educators of
children in the Catholic faith. This group is formed to support parents
in preparing their primary school children for the sacraments of initiation,
namely baptism (if children are not already baptized), first reconciliation,
confirmation, and first communion. A course for parents is
conducted annually.

MORNING TEA [SUNDAYS]
Rostered individuals and groups of parishioners assist to provide hospitality
to visitors and other parishioners after Mass on Sundays. All
welcome to help. Parishioners are encouraged to ensure that visitors
are accompanied to morning tea and introduced to other parishioners.

ENVELOPE DONATION-SYSTEM
This is the regular means by which most parishioners regularly give
money to pay for the running expenses of the Parish and other aspects
of the Catholic Church in this country and beyond.
Most parishioners participate in this scheme by taking a set of envelopes
(one for each week) and placing their weekly donation in it,
placing it in the basket at the collection time during Sunday Mass.
If you do not have a set of envelopes and wish to receive one,
kindly contact the Recorder. You may also do Automatic payments
through you Bank.

FLOWER ARRANGEMENT
This group provides and arranges flowers throughout most of the
year to ornament the sanctuary and other parts of the church. It is a
ministry that forms an important aspect of our liturgical worship.
We welcome newcomers to this ministry. Assistance is given in the
art of flower arrangement. (You don’t need to be an ‘expert’)

FOOD BANK
The ministry of this group reaches out to all people in the community
who are in need of food until such time as they can make a
more permanent arrangement to supply their basic needs. It calls for
the organisation of donated food and its delivery, to designated
places of pick up or to the person’s home.

FUNERAL HOSPITALITY
This group arranges and caters for receptions for families and
friends of the bereaved when there is a funeral in the Parish. It is an
entirely voluntary service.

welcome to participate.

These people are trained for their ministry to hospital patients in
Dargaville. They receive ongoing careful supervision. They share
their ministry with Christians from other denominations

JOSEPHITE ASSOCIATES
[SAINT JOSEPH ASSOCIATES IN MISSION]
This group seeks to live in the spirit of Blessed Mary MacKillop
who founded the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart who
for many years conducted our parish school. New members are
welcome.

LAY LEADERS OF PRAYER
These ministers lead liturgies of the word [with or without Holy
Communion] in the absence of a priest to preside at Mass. They
may sometimes conduct other liturgies and forms of prayer as
authorized.

Books are available after Mass on Sundays and at other times by

MARRIAGE PREPARATION
This ministry is to couples of any age preparing for the sacrament of
matrimony. Completion of such a course is normally essential for all
who plan to marry within this Parish.

MARY MACKILLOP CENTRE
This is our Parish centre and serves especially for purposes of education,
socialising, hospitality, and outreach – in short for ‘the propagation
of the faith’. Various parish groups use it regularly. Saint Joseph’s
Catholic School makes much use of the hall for assemblies
and other activities. Guidelines for the Centre’s use are published
elsewhere. All parishioners need to be aware of them when making
use of the Centre.

These ministers assist in the distribution of the sacrament of the
Eucharist.

These ministers take the sacrament of Holy Communion to people
who are sick or otherwise prevented from being present at Mass on
